About TRAIN

TRAIN implements our medical expertise combined with behavioral and exercise science to help you reduce the risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular disease is a collective term for diseases that affect the heart or blood vessels such as coronary heart disease (a disease of the blood vessels supplying the heart muscle), cerebrovascular disease (a disease of the blood vessels supplying the brain) and peripheral arterial disease (a disease of blood vessels supplying the arms and legs). Around 18 million people die annually from cardiovascular diseases, making it the leading cause of death globally. Certain risk factors for cardiovascular disease cannot be controlled, such as age or genetics. But by changing factors you can control, risk for cardiovascular diseases can be reduced.

The risk of certain cardiovascular diseases may be increased by factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar, an unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, and obesity. Our daily activities influence the likelihood of developing cardiovascular diseases to a great extent. Several studies support the concept that regular physical activity, weight management, healthy diet, mindfulness and control of cholesterol, blood pressure, and glucose significantly reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease. Following a cluster of these lifestyle practices leads to a reduction of risk for cardiovascular disease in more than 80% of the individuals.

Adherence to positive lifestyle factors is however challenging. Currently, only 5 percent of adults practice all health advice that the medical preventive guidelines propose as the four ideal cardiovascular health behaviors being non-smoking, physical activity, a healthy diet and a body mass index less than 25 kg/m2.

Our TRAIN program helps you better understand your relationship with physical activity and nutrition, how to be more mindful of your habits, and give you the knowledge and support you need for long-lasting change. Our goal is to improve the cardiovascular health of our patients and the general population.

Come and join our mission to make the world a healthier place!
